Guy Tells A Stranger That His Stepdaughter Is Only His Girlfriend's Kid, And It Upsets His Girlfriend

Guy Tells A Stranger That His Stepdaughter Is Only His Girlfriend's Kid, And It Upsets His Girlfriend

Daphnie 1 year ago

Welcome back to yet another Reddit post that was submitted on the AITA thread from someone who is trying to find out if they are TA. These threads are awesome for people who are looking to get advice on a situation but without asking friends and family who might be biased.

Ultimately, these people like asking anonymously because it's easier than having people pick a side or anything of the sort. We like looking at these posts because it's fun to recognize the story, and it's pretty interesting to see what people have to say in the comment section as well.

So with this being said, today's story is about a man who openly denied his kids and let a stranger know that they aren't biologically his. His girlfriend was the one that made a big deal out of it and said that he should have just gone with it.

Now, people in the comments have so much to say, and they really took a pretty obvious side. So if you want to hear about the story and see what people had to say, then this post is the one for you.

Keep on reading as we dive into this situation, and check out the full post, plus all of the best comments that people left too.

OP starts off by explaining the family dynamic and the situation with his girlfriend and step kids.

He said that his girlfriend asked to talk to him when they got home and this is when she expressed that she was upset with him about what he said.

He clarifies and says that he doesn't have an issue with kids but that's just how they are comfortable and the kids feel the same way as well.

He says he takes care of them of course, but doesn't expect labels or anything if neither party is okay with it.

People automatically jumped in the comments to call him TA for denying his kids and probably embarrassing his girlfriend in front of a stranger.

People tried to let OP know that those are his kids and that despite how they or he feels, those are his girlfriend's family so they are his family too.

Some people told him that they are a family no matter what and that he should have just played along because not everybody needs to know the ins and outs of the family dynamic that they have.

OP does seem to downplay it a little bit but maybe this is just the relationship that they have and so it's normal for him to act/behave this way without feeling bad.

He did not technically lie, but he probably should have changed his answer just to he could seem less of an AH.

We don't blame OP at all because this is basically just how his relationship is, but maybe he should just talk to his girlfriend and the kids to really find out where they stand. This may help to eliminate confusion and make things a little less awkward when stuff like this comes up or happens.
