Redditor Get's Fed Up Of Catering To Her Younger Sister And Baby, Demands That She Finds A Job And Takes Up Her Own Responsibilities

Family members are the people you expect always to have your back. Not only are you connected to these people by blood, love and shared experiences connect you to them too.

Many people enjoy the benefits of having family members in their corner in different ways. They support businesses and help out with childcare, not to mention the occasional financial assistance they may offer.

However, it’s essential not to take all these for granted or feel entitled to them, as this may cause a wedge between family members.

It’s also vital to reciprocate where necessary, as this helps the family thrive.

We found a story on the AITA subreddit highlighting some of the issues that may arise when family members become entitled to help.

A woman shared on the AITA subreddit that her 23-year-old sister got pregnant, and unfortunately, the baby's father was absent.

OP started to help out as often as she could, despite her low income. However, her sister wasn't helping as she refused to get a job, even when their mother offered to take care of the baby.

OP had spent the majority of her life taking care of her siblings due to their mother’s busy schedule and their irresponsible father. However, she wasn't planning to do this anymore until her sister got a job.

OP’s resolve led her sister to anger, and she didn't hesitate to call her names, leading OP to ask the AITA question.

OP explained that she comes from a very dysfunctional family where finances have always been a problem. In addition, her sister ended up getting pregnant, thus putting more strain on their already depleted finances.

Now, OP is demanding that her sister pass the childcare responsibilities to their mom and go look for a job or else she won't be receiving any more pocket money. Unfortunately, this has caused a rift between both sisters

The commenters all agree that OP is NTA. However, they believe that her sister is.

According to them, OP needs to stand her ground, as her sister needs to take responsibility for her actions instead of expecting OP to suffer the consequences of her choices.
